Global Health

"Global"

“As a 3rd year resident, I was able to travel to Guatemala with several other residents and a faculty member. It was an amazing experience. We set up a clinic at a school and were able to see over 500 people. We had no labs and limited supply of medications. It really reminded me of the importance of a thorough history and exam and encouraged me to think critically about how to help my patients without any resources. It is a skill that I use every day in my current practice working with low resources and uninsured patients. It was truly and life-changing experience.” Joy Ferro, DO 2023 Graduate

Trainees are able to participate in global health trips with faculty, which take place once or twice each year. Previous destinations have included the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Some trainees return as alumni for subsequent trips.
