Call coverage takes place Friday night through Sunday night in divided shifts. Weekends are selected based on which rotation you are on. PGY1 shifts are split into 12 hours segments, while senior residents complete 24-hour shifts.

Vacation

  • 21 days (including vacation time, sick days, and CME)
  • Additional time off during a holiday block
  • Trainees are encouraged to use vacation in 5 day stretches for optimal wellbeing during time off, but PTO may use in 1-5 days stretches as requested in eligible rotation blocks

Night Float System

The residency program operates a night float system from 6 PM to 7 AM, Sunday night through Friday morning. For the first four months of the year, night float is staffed by two senior residents and one intern. During the remainder of the year, coverage is provided by one senior resident and one intern. This arrangement enables trainees to manage tasks in Medicine, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Rapid Responses with additional in-house support during the first few months of residency
