Palliative Medicine, Women’s Health
Academically, I chose this residency program because it will properly train me to pursue my passion for practicing broad-spectrum family medicine. I want to be there for my patients’ best and worst moments. At this program, residents are encouraged to take a leadership role quite early on. In fact, on my very first day as a resident physician, I got to help with the delivery of a beautiful new life. On the other end of the spectrum, I have had the honor of being there for patients and their families in their final moments as well.
Sentimentally, I chose AFP because this was the place I felt the most “at home” during all of my clinical rotations. This was the place where people “made an effort” to get to know me and encouraged me to be an active part of each patient’s care team. The environment created at AFP is one that nurtures compassionate and bright family physicians.
