I chose UPMC Altoona because of the people!  My very first interaction with the administrative and residency team was so warm and welcoming!  Before even meeting everyone, there was a sense of family, which truly defines "family medicine", and after meeting them, my perceptions were confirmed.  I wanted somewhere I could grow, learn and achieve my dreams, and not just "get through residency".  I also loved the fact that my training could be tailored towards my medical goal, ensuring that I wouldn't be walking this road all alone.
